Performance Experience
I have experience performing in world class ensembles, and have had a few wonderful teaching opportunities. I have been a percussionist for fourteen years, but my primary instrument is steel pan. In the spring of 2006, I was chosen with eight of my colleagues to travel to Trinidad and Tobago to compete in Panorama, one of the most prestigious and critically acclaimed steel pan festivals in the world. While in Trinidad, I studied the culture as well as the history of steel pan. In the spring of 2008, I had the opportunity to demonstrate my ability as a guest clinician with the Gerald Adams Elementary School Steel Band in Key West, FL. In fall of 2010 I accepted a position as an elementary music teacher in Grayslake, IL, where I developed an after school program called "Music Explorers" which focused on bringing music to the community, while providing students with a strong and culturally well rounded music education.
